Santa Rosa, CA—Think Tank Photo released a protective backpack for users of DJI Inspire or other similarly sized quadcopter drones. The Helipak for DJI Inspire can hold a DJI Inspire (with gimbal and rotors detached), a Zenmuse gimbal with three lenses, six batteries, two controllers, two 8-inch tablets, extra propellers and a 17-inch laptop and charger.

Movable dividers permit users to customize the fit of their gear in the backpack. A contoured tuck-away harness with lumbar support and a cut-away air channel, an adjustable sternum strap, and a removable padded waist belt are designed for comfort while trekking into remote areas.

“The backpack’s ABS twin-wall reinforcement provides a rigid shell that protects sensitive gear from impacts, bumps and scrapes,” said Think Tank Photo’s president and lead designer, Doug Murdoch. “It also features YKK RC Fuse zippers, 1680D Ballistic nylon bottom panel, metal hardware and nylon webbing that are the most durable, longest lasting materials on the market.”

Other key features include: a large front pocket for auxiliary items, such as a jacket, laptop pocket or large tablet; lockable zippers; internal see-through mesh pockets for small accessories; an organizer for a smartphone, wallet, pens, keys, business cards, etc.; and a side water bottle pocket.

There are also elastic pockets on the shoulder straps for small objects. Additionally, handles on three sides help ensure easy retrieval from airline overhead bins and car trunks. A seam-sealed rain cover also helps to protect gear and stows away inside the backpack.

For water-resistance, all exterior fabric has a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating. Plus the underside of the fabric has a polyurethane coating.

Helipak Dimensions

The backpack has exterior dimensions of 19.3x24x9.4 inches and interior dimensions of 17.3×21.7×7.9 inches. Its weight is 8.5 pounds.

Think Tank Photo’s Helipak backpack for the DJI Inspire drone has an SRP of $339.75. thinktankphoto.com
