We’re hoping everyone had a successful holiday season and that you’re ready for the challenges of 2017 and looking ahead to the new year.

We’re proud to be the only magazine to deliver a CES wrap-up issue a week after the show. As such, we offer new product news and business perspectives coming right out of Las Vegas.

In this issue, you’ll see Ron Eggerss views on the important new products introduced at CES 2017. We also give you a fresh look at action cams. In addition, there’s my own assessment of what strategies should be considered to take advantage of the many new technologies that will affect the imaging business.

Personally, one of the highlights of the week was the Imaging Alliance Celebrates Imaging Innovation event. It was held on the eve of CES. And I don’t offer this because I helped put the program together.

I say it because it was a pleasure to once again see a pure networking event for the imaging industry. Attendance at the event was varied. It included more than 35 retailers, a myriad of professional photographers, members of the press and many industry executives. And no one was haggling over terms and inventories!

Drinks were flowing, people were smiling. And we were all able to celebrate what our industry is all about: the excitement and creativity of the world of imaging. Furthermore, I believe those in attendance will agree that getting together socially in our industry is somewhat of a lost art. And it’s impressive what can be accomplished over a few drinks and a few laughs.

We are much more powerful when we work together. I look forward to the industry forming alliances in 2017 that will be beneficial to all.
