Lensbaby Aperture Kit Contest

Lensbaby Aperture Kit Contest

1402

The founders of Lensbaby have decided that their Creative Aperture Kit needs an update and they would like to extend an invite to the photo community to help them redesign this product. They feel the kit can be more creative than just the heart and star shapes they currently offer. They are inviting users to submit their best ideas for a new creative aperture design. They'll pick up to five winners and will manufacture those winning designs for the next Creative Aperture Kit.

The 1st prize winner's disk design will be produced, and their image taken with the disk will be used on the product package. They will also receive their photo framed by Plywerk. Runners-up will get their aperture design produced in the new Creative Aperture Kit as well as credit on the packaging. All winners will receive one of the new Creative Aperture Kits.

For those not familiar with Creative Aperture Disks, they are Lensbaby aperture disks with creative shapes cut into them. Regular Lensbaby aperture disks have standard, round f-stop equivalent holes, like f/4, f/5.6, etc. A Creative Aperture disk has a different shape – like a heart, or a star – instead of a circle. Bright light sources (like street lights or holiday lights) in the blurry part of the photo take on the creative shape cut into the aperture disk. When shooting with a star aperture you will see all of those tiny bright lights turn into stars right through the view-finder.
The contest closes on June 11th and the winning images will be announced on June 25th.
