General Imaging (GIC), exclusive licensee of GE branded digital cameras, has announced that the company has received the prestigious Plus X Award for its E1486TW and making touch-screen digital cameras easier than ever to use.

A prestigious international honor, the Plus X Award recognizes manufacturers for introducing innovative products with major advances in technology that simplify or enhance consumers’ lives. The Plus X jury, consisting of 144 members from 32 nations, awarded top honors to the E1486TW for its Ease of Use.

“We are extremely proud that the Plus X jurors recognized our efforts with the E1486TW,” said Paul Meyhoefer, General Imaging’s vice president of Marketing and Product Planning. “We designed the E1486TW for consumers who want an easy-to-use camera that incorporates the latest technology, with advanced zoom and cutting edge, touch-screen technology. The result is a powerful yet simple to use point-and-shoot camera at an unbeatable price.”

The GE E1486TW is loaded with highly-coveted features, including the ability to record high-definition movies, 14-megapixel resolution for incredible clarity, and a large 3-inch LCD screen. And at only 0.83 inches thick, the E1486TW offers one of the slimmest 8X optical zoom performance cameras in the point and shoot market. Innovative OIS image stabilization technology ensures crisp, detailed photos every time, while a 28-mm angle glass lens provides the flexibility to go wide when needed. Further, with the camera’s innovative touch screen control, a simple swipe of your finger lets you scroll through recent shots and swipe the screen to zoom photos. The E1486TW is available in black, red and silver for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $179.99.

The Plus X Award is one of the largest competitions in the world assessing technology, sports and lifestyle products. Every product submitted is rigorously tested and discussed in detail in a judging process that lasts several weeks. The jurors reject “me too” products, paying particular attention to innovative new products that benefit the consumer and complement their lifestyles.
