Not a lot of news lately in the lower-end of the digital camera market as DSLRs have been stealing headlines and sales figures have dropped in the lower megapixel categories. California-based DXG will be attempting to change all that this week and beyond as the company has released a 10-megapixel point-and-shoot model, the DXG-110, with the remarkable price tag of $169. Digital Clique recently sat down with DXG and the company feels this latest model breaths much needed life into the lower end market. “There has been tremendous focus on eth DSLR market of late,” began the 110’s creator, Jeff Shu, DXG’s VP of Engineering. “We feel strongly that there is still a large percentage of the population that only wants the convenience and ease-of-use that a simple point-and-shoot provides. However, they still want to take great pictures. The DXG 110 puts all that in their hands.”

The company added that the camera will be marketed mainly to the women’s market and will be made available in a variety of colors as eth line moves along. Additional features include a 3X optical zoom, 30fps video, 2.5-inch LCD, face detection and ISO up to 1600. Side-by-side comparison shots against some of the industry’s bigger names served the 110 well as the camera appears to handle some difficult shooting situations quite deftly, a complaint within the lower end point-and-shoot for years.
