Western Digital Unveils Personal Storage Solutions for Digital Content

San Jose, CA—At CES 2019, Western Digital Corporation unveiled several personal storage solutions that allow consumers to capture, organize and share their digital content. In addition to new and upcoming portable SSDs and a USB drive cloud backup service, WD demonstrated an ultrahigh capacity flash drive prototype. The all put consumers in charge of their photos, videos and documents, enabling them to store more content and access it on the go.

Western Digital showcased the following SanDisk and WD brand offerings at CES 2019.

SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD

With estimated availability in spring 2019, the SSD will deliver sustained performance at up to 1GB/s transfer speeds. It also will seek to provide dust-resistant IP55-rated durability

and withstand a 3-minute water flow.

WD My Passport Go

The latest addition to WD’s My Passport family, the Go SSD features up to 1TB of portable storage. Its form factor includes an integrated cable as well as rubber bumper. Auto backup and password protection are integrated. It is also withstands a fall of 6.5 feet.

SanDisk Flashback

Available for two of SanDisk’s USB drives, Flashback is a new cloud backup service. Flashback creates an online copy of the USB drive’s content. So even if their drive is lost or left at home, consumers can view, search and share their files. Moreover, with a dedicated app, Flashback lets users share photos, videos and documents with as many people as they want, using just a link.

SanDisk 4TB USB-C Prototype

Western Digital also demonstrated what it calls “the world’s highest-capacity portable flash drive.”

Providing 4TB of flash memory in an compact form factor, the drive is currently in prototype form.
