Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics America introduced its latest memory card lineups—Pro Plus and EVO Plus—adding to its SD and microSD card portfolio to address the growing consumer need for advanced multimedia memory solutions.
“Samsung is following through on our promise to deliver next-generation memory cards that have even faster speeds and higher memory storage volume that will enhance consumer satisfaction level and solidify Samsung’s branded memory business leadership,” said Un-Soo Kim, senior vice president, Branded Product Marketing, Memory Business, Samsung Electronics. “With the increase of 4K UHD enabled devices and market needs for memory capacity, the Pro Plus and EVO Plus lineups are optimized solutions that will meet today’s user expectations.”
Pro Plus cards are equipped to handle storing and transferring professional-grade photos and 4K UHD video content created from high-end DSLRs, smartphones, tablets and action cams. With higher read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90 MB/s, respectively, Pro Plus SD cards and microSD cards satisfy both UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Class 10 performance levels.
The Pro Plus line includes 64-gigabyte and 32GB storage capacities to meet the rising demand for large data and high-quality storage volumes. Specs state the 64GB Pro Plus card can record 110 minutes of 4K UHD video or 490 minutes of Full HD video in action cams or DSLRs without the need to change or replace the memory card.
EVO Plus cards, also available in SD and microSD formats, are designed to meet the ever-increasing content creation and storage demands of smartphone, tablet, compact camera and Full HD camcorder users. EVO Plus cards have read and write speeds of 80MB/s and 20MB/s, respectively. They provide UHS-I Speed Class 1 (U1) and Class 10 performance, boasting a more advanced read performance compared to the existing EVO line. The EVO Plus cards are capable of storing and transferring Full HD video content and select mobile apps, providing a solution for users who frequently store and send them through their smartphones, tablets and recording devices.
The EVO Plus line comes in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions. The 128GB EVO Plus card can store 10,940 photos or 30,670 songs, or 980 minutes of Full HD video recording.
Both Pro Plus and EVO Plus SD cards are upgraded with Samsung’s five-proof features: waterproof, temperature proof, X-ray proof, magnetic proof and shockproof. Both Plus card lines can withstand 72 hours of being submerged in seawater—48 more hours than the existing products. The cards are also guaranteed to survive operating temperatures from -13°F to 185°F and nonoperating temperatures from -40°F to 185°F. samsung.com
