Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics America announced the nationwide availability of the latest model in its lineup of Wi-Fi enabled Smart cameras, the EX2F compact camera, for $499.99. Boasting a bright f/1.4 lens, the EX2F builds on the success of its predecessor, the TL500, with full manual control in a lightweight magnesium body.

Marketed as an option for professional photographers seeking something more portable than a DSLR or for amateur shooters looking for a step-up from a point-and-shoot model while keeping the same operability and ease-of-use.

“Samsung continues to blaze the trail in the Smart camera space and the addition of Wi-Fi to the EX2F, coupled with the brightest lens, give this camera a pedigree far above others in its class,” said Reid Sullivan, senior vice president, Mobile Entertainment, Samsung Electronics America. “As consumers start to compile gift lists for the 2012 holiday season, the EX2F has the prowess and flexibility to be at the top of the lists for even the most tech-savvy.”

The camera’s wide-angle and wide-aperture 24mm f/1.4 lens is engineered to deliver clear images and video even in very low light. Designed with a built-in neutral density filter, it gives users greater control over exposure time in different conditions and gives photos a neutral appearance even when overexposed. It also allows for shooting at a very shallow depth of field to isolate subjects from the background. Other notable features include a 1/1.7-inch, 12 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, full manual control, including aperture and shutter priority modes, and dual dial and front wheel keys that permit photographers to quickly adjust exposure. A 3.0-inch swiveling AMOLED display enables picture taking from low and high angles, and the screen employs Samsung’s “smart panel” user interface, which places all shooting options and image parameters into one menu screen.

In addition to capturing 12MP photos, the EX2F records 1080p Full HD movies at 30 frames per second with stereo sound. And with its dual capture function, full-res photos and HD video can be captured simultaneously. The camera also includes dual optical and digital image stabilization (OIS and DIS) to minimize the effect of camera shake.

Additionally, integrated Wi-Fi connectivity lets users connect to wireless networks without any additional cards or devices, to share at social networking sites or to send pictures via e-mail. Using the free Samsung Mobile Link application, users can transfer photos from the camera directly to a supported phone or tablet. They can also access the Remote Viewfinder app to use their smartphone or tablet’s screen to frame shots from a variety of angles. samsung.com
