Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corporation added an all-in-one bridge camera, the FinePix S8400W, which is Wi-Fi enabled and boasts a 44x optical long zoom (24–1056mm) Fujinon lens and an improved 16MP BSI-CMOS sensor.

“The new FinePix S8400W is a long-zoom bridge camera with amazing performance and high-speed operation, giving photo enthusiasts the range and quality that they are looking for,” said David Troy, director of Marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “And with its built-in Wi-Fi, users can easily connect and upload their favorite images to their smartphone or tablet for quick online sharing.”

The S8400W’s 44x optical zoom lens has a fast aperture of f/2.9–6.5 and an optical image stabilization system for blur reduction. Capable of 0.39-inch super macro shooting, the lens consists of 17 elements in 12 groups, combining aspherical and ED elements to help reduce aberrations.

The camera’s 16MP BSI-CMOS sensor provides low-noise shots at sensitivities as high as ISO 12,800. And specs state it has an autofocus speed of 0.3 second, a start-up time of 1.0 second and a 0.5-sec interval between shots, as well as a full-resolution continuous shooting speed of 10 frames per sec. To capture the action in slow motion, there’s also ultra-high-speed shooting of 60 fps (max 60 frames, image size 1,280×960) and 120 fps (max 60 frames, 640×480).

Other features include: a mode dial for shooting selection, dual zoom control for speed and zooming; a 3.0-inch, 460k-dot LCD; an electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 201k-dot resolution; six in-camera creative effects filters, like cross screen that creates starbursts around bright objects; Full HD 1080i/60-fps movie recording with stereo sound via a dedicated movie button; and in-camera movie-editing features, like movie trimming and movie join.

The FinePix S8400W’s new wireless feature lets users transfer photos and movies from the camera to smartphones, tablets and computers and upload images to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. To connect the camera to a smartphone/tablet, users can download the free Fujifilm Camera Application to their iPhone/iPad or Android device. Once connected it will transfer up to 30 pictures at a time. The app also lets users download movies.

Also notable, the Wi-Fi capability enables users to back up their photos on their home computer. Once consumers install the free Fujifilm PC AutoSave software onto their computer, select the folder they want the photos to back up to, and link a Wi-Fi router with the S8400W, the camera will automatically back up photos to the computer.

Fujifilm’s FinePix S8400W, which runs on four AA alkaline batteries, will be available in May for an SRP of $349.95. fujifilmusa.com
