Huntington Beach, CA—MailPix, a photo-printing, canvas and gifting site, announced strong sales for 2018. Sales revenue was up 38% and profits were up 53%, compared to the prior year.
Reasons for Strong Sales
The privately held company attributed the revenue and margin growth to the recent acquisitions of Photobucket’s PrintShopLab.com as well as RitzPix.com. In addition, it believes the continued growth of its 1 Hour Photo app also contributed to the strong results.
“Despite the news in the business press reporting disappointing results for Shutterfly, MailPix is optimistic about the future potential of the photo printing, gift and decor markets,” said Fred H. Lerner, founder and CEO. “We are continuing to manage our growth with strategic brand acquisitions and mobile app development.”
Furthermore, MailPix added five brands since 2014: 1 Hour Photo; MyPix2; RitzPix; Winkflash; and Photobucket’s Print Shop Lab. “The MailPix brand portfolio of websites and mobile apps is an industry leader,” added Lerner. Apps in the MailPix family deliver to more than 20,000 U.S. retail print locations.
MailPix.com is a website that enables printing photos in one hour at more than 20,000 retailers from phone apps or PCs. It also offers mail-to-home services. Moreover, the company preserves photo memories as photo books, canvas prints, photo prints, cards, enlargements and other photo gift products. The service is integrated to print photos from any phone, device or computer. Fred H. Lerner is the founder and CEO of MailPix, which is his latest start-up. Lerner previously founded Ritz Interactive, which included RitzCamera.com as well as WolfCamera.com. He is also the founder of two imaging companies that were acquired by Kodak; he became the CEO of Kodak Processing Labs.
Peter Tahmin, cofounder and COO of MailPix, was the former vice president at Ritz Camera & Image. He was also cofounder, senior vice president and COO of the Ritz Interactive e-commerce network. Tahmin brings more than 25 years of e-commerce experience as well as imaging industry experience to MailPix.
