Center Valley, PA—The Stylus Tough TG-Tracker is the first rugged, experiential camera that combines Olympus’s Tough adventureproof capabilities with Field Sensor technology, a 204° ultrawide-angle 13.9mm f/2.0 lens, and Ultra HD 4K 30p video capture. The TG-Tracker’s built-in field sensors include GPS, a barometric-pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, an e.Compass and also an accelerometer.

Users can select from three display options on the LCD monitor. These include a compass display, level display and log display, to show the data captured via the field sensors. Log mode records data without video for extended time periods. And data logs can be displayed simultaneously with recorded images using the Olympus Image Track app. This is to enhance reliving outdoor action with an immersive, data-rich viewing experience.

With sealed construction, the TG-Tracker is optimized for extreme shooting environments. It’s waterproof to depths of 100 feet; dustproof; shockproof to withstand a drop of 7 feet with its dual-layer chassis (LCD monitor closed); freezeproof to 14° F; and crushproof up to 220 pounds of force.

“The Stylus Tough TG-Tracker represents a new category of rugged cameras with its field sensor system that’s capable of capturing location, altitude and depth, g-force and air and water temperature while users record videos and still images of their outdoor adventures,” the company announced.

The camera uses GPS with GLONASS and QZSS functionality to calculate the user’s latitude and longitude from satellite signals. Assist GPS can significantly increase the speed of the system’s positioning calculations by downloading satellite information ahead of time using the Olympus A-GPS Utility computer app or the Olympus Image Track smart-device app.

The TG-Tracker additionally features an 8MP, low-noise, backlit CMOS sensor and TruePic VII for 4K image processor—the latest iteration of the TruePic processor used in the Olympus OM-D and PEN compact system cameras. And its compact body and tilt-out, 1.5-inch LCD monitor help ensure low- and high-angle video capture.

In addition, a high-intensity LED headlight is integrated into the camera body for shooting support in low-light conditions, while the bundled SG-T01 steady grip helps with stable framing during handheld shooting.

Other features include: built-in Wi-Fi for remote control as well as transfer of videos, along with field data, to a smart device; time lapse movie mode for fixed-point observation of movement, such as clouds crossing the sky or flowers opening; a loop recording function for easier video-data handling; a bundled UP-T01 underwater lens protector for underwater shooting; electronic 5-axis image stabilization to compensation for camera motion; and 4K video playback via HDMI connection.

Optional Stylus Tough TG-Tracker Accessories

The CSCH-125 TG-Tracker case can be attached to a backpack or belt, and data logs can be recorded while on the go with the camera inside. The camera can be stored in the case on its own and also with the steady grip attached. The case is equipped with a carabiner and spiral safety cord so users don’t have to worry about losing the camera. Additionally, the case can be used in the rain or in saltwater. It retails for $29.99.

The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-Tracker camera is available in green and black with an estimated retail price of $349.99. olympusamerica.com
