Ricoh’s Next-Gen Ricoh Theta Camera Adds 360º, Spherical Video Capabilities

Denver, CO—Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation released its newest Theta model, a fully 360º, spherical imaging device that enables users to capture everything around them in the ultimate “selfie.”

The newest Theta, which comes in a choice of blue, yellow, white or pink body colors, now provides video capture technology with the ability to capture spherical video footage with clips up to three minutes in length. The lightweight Theta sports an easy-to-carry form factor designed for on-the-go fun.

In keeping with the spirit of innovation, Ricoh is opening up its API (Application Programming Interface) and providing an SDK (Software Development Kit) available on theta360.com to coincide with the release of the new Ricoh Theta. Developers can create original Theta apps with a variety of settings to perform various operations using the device. By developing these apps, end users will be benefit from new capabilities added to their Ricoh Theta.
