Ridgefield Park, NJ—Polaroid is shipping the Polaroid Snap digital instant camera in the U.S. The Snap is designed to deliver “the instant simplicity and spontaneity that is synonymous with the brand.”

The pocket-size camera combines digital imaging with a Zero Ink Printing platform. This enables users to print and share photos at the push of a button. They can also save their images for uploading to a computer and any social media platform.

“When we first announced the Polaroid Snap instant digital camera in September, we were overwhelmed by the excitement around the return of classic instant photography, with a modern twist,” said Scott W. Hardy, president and CEO of Polaroid. “The Polaroid Snap makes the idea of easily and instantly sharing your memories, a concept that has been part of the Polaroid brand DNA for over 75 years, relevant in the digital age. It introduces an entirely new generation to the magic of instant photography. We’re excited to bring it to market in time for families to capture and share their holiday moments in a new way.”

The Snap’s minimalist design features an updated look that incorporates elements of legacy Polaroid instant cameras. These include the iconic Polaroid color spectrum. This is due to the efforts of design firm Ammunition. The studio was also behind the Polaroid Zip instant photo printer as well as the Polaroid Cube lifestyle action cameras.

Polaroid Snap Features

The Polaroid Snap is a 10 megapixel digital instant camera with an integrated printer using ZINK Zero Ink Printing technology that enables users to print full-color, 2×3-inch prints automatically when an image is captured. Consumers can shoot new images even while the Polaroid Snap is printing. The ZINK-enabled printer uses heat to activate and colorize cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded in the paper. The result is full-color, smudge-proof images without ink cartridges, ribbons or toner. A photo prints in just under a minute, and because ZINK paper is adhesive backed, the photos can be used as stickers.

The Snap also features color, black-and-white and vintage Polaroid-photo-inspired capture modes; a photo booth mode that takes four quick pictures in a few seconds; and the option of printing with or without the Polaroid classic border logo format. Users can also take an instant selfie using the camera’s self-timer function. Additionally, the camera has a microSD slot that holds up to a 32GB card. This permits users to save, transfer and upload images to a computer, cloud service or social media platform.

The Polaroid Snap digital instant camera, offered by authorized Polaroid licensee C&A Marketing, is available in black, white, red and blue for $99.99. polaroid.com
