Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung’s newest addition to its NX family of slim compact system cameras (CSC), the NX2000 employs Samsung Smart Camera connectivity technology so photos and movies can be captured and immediately shared.

“Combining consumer demand for quality photography with the increasing desire for instantaneous sharing has become a focus for our NX range,” said Sun Hong Lim, senior vice president and head of Sales & Marketing, Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “The NX2000 builds on this theme to offer a stylish model which caters to the needs of today’s aspiring photographers who love to share their lives on social networking sites. Ideal for the everyday photographer who wants to capture their world, the NX2000 allows users to express themselves and share their beloved stories with ease with the people who matter.”

At the heart of the NX2000 are a 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor produced by Samsung in-house and a DRIMe IV engine, which work to produce highly detailed images and Full HD video with rich color reproduction and low noise, even in low-light conditions.

And the NX2000 is fast, boasting 8-frames-per-second continuous shooting and a 1/4,000 second top shutter speed, while its ISO settings range from 100 to 25,600.

Key features include a large 3.7-inch WVGA touch-screen LCD, which also provides intuitive navigation to access a range of functions, and smart mode, which offers 14 scene modes and a selection of settings that reflect a specific shooting environment. Users can take photos of fast-moving subjects, such as a child running, with the action freeze setting or capture everyone’s good side with the best face setting, which takes five consecutive photos and lets users select the best facial expression of each person in the picture.

In addition, the 3D still and movie recording capabilities of the NX2000, when coupled with Samsung’s 45mm 2D/3D lens (sold separately), bring an element of 3D realism to photos and videos, which can be replayed on compatible 3D TVs.

Enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity is at the core of Samsung’s Smart Camera 2.0 technology. The Smart Camera app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, provides a way of linking smart devices. AutoShare sends photos, as they are taken, from the NX2000 to a smartphone/tablet, via a direct Wi-Fi connection, where they can be shared instantly when users aren’t connected to an access point. And images can also be instantly backed up.

The integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) technology also links the NX2000 to many NFC-enabled Android smartphones and tablets. Users tap the camera with the smart device and NFC launches the Smart Camera app and automatically pairs the device via a Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, users can sync their favorite social website, such as Facebook, to the dedicated Direct Link hot key.

Samsung’s NX compact system camera lineup currently includes 12 interchangeable lenses, from ultracompact pancake lenses and zooms to a portrait lens and a macro lens. Plus, Samsung’s i-Function system allows users to control various camera settings with the lens, such as the aperture or shutter speed.

The NX2000 comes bundled with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4—a photography workflow application that enables photography enthusiasts and professionals to enhance, organize and share photos.
