Allendale, NJ—With the introduction of the M Monochrom and the S-system calendars, Leica Camera honors moments captured by the two newly released camera models, encouraging future perspectives for 2013.
The Leica M Monochrom Calendar spotlights performances by stars of the international music scene at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival 2012, where Leica Camera served as the official photography partner. Using the M Monochrom—a camera that ushers the fascination of monochrome photography into the digital age—photographer Michael Agel documented the jazz festival’s spirited atmosphere with dramatic monochromatic images of live performances from featured artists, including Erykah Badu, Alanis Morissette, Jamie N. Commons, Kimbra, Sebastien Teller, Hugh Laurie, Luiz Melodia, Buddy Guy, James Carter, Katie Melua, 69 Chambers and Michael Wollny.
The Leica S-System Calendar showcases innovative images shot with the Leica S by Rankin, the renowned British portrait and fashion photographer. For photography lovers, music enthusiasts and fashion aficionados, the M Monochrom and S-System calendars are now available. The calendar presents 12 hand-selected images by Rankin, renowned for his celebrity portraits. His portfolio includes intimate portraits of subjects that include Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen and The Rolling Stones. With “hair” being the core theme for this particular collection of images, the Londoner worked with prominent stylists to cultivate the selected outlandish, creatively configured scenarios. From the eerie portrait of a woman peeking out from behind a fern with a braid encasing her face, to the glowing blue lights dramatically wrapped around a model, each image is unique. The studio sessions were shot exclusively for S Magazine, a publication that serves as a source of inspiration and contemporary photographic ideas for creative professional photographers.
The pages in both calendars are perforated at the top and bottom to allow the images to be detached and hung without the calendar dates. Both Leica calendars are available at Leica Stores, Boutiques, dealers and at the Leica Fotografie International online shop at www.lfi-online.de.
