Santa Rosa, CA—Think Tank Photo released the Airport Advantage rolling camera bag.  Designed for traveling on commuter or regional jets, the bag’s customized interior is designed to hold the maximum amount of gear that fits in overhead bins or under seats.

In addition, the ultralight design lets photographers pack more gear while staying under airlines’ increasingly vigilant weight restrictions.

“The Airport Advantage has all of the features and quality for which Think Tank’s larger rolling camera bags are renowned,” said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank’s CEO and lead designer. “With this, our smallest rolling camera bag, we help photographers solve one of their biggest headaches, which is how to keep their very expensive gear near them at all times on regional aircraft, as opposed to it being tossed into the hold.”

Meeting U.S. and International airline carry-on requirements, the bag weighs 5.9–6.2 pounds. And its exterior dimensions are 12.7×19.5×7.3 inches. A dedicated laptop pocket additionally fits up to 15-inch laptops in a padded sleeve. There is a tripod mount as well as a water bottle pocket on the side. Additional straps are also included for larger tripods.

A custom-designed, retractable handle with an inset channel on aluminum tubing for durability is also featured. As are YKK RC Fuse zippers and closed-cell PU foam.

The Airport Advantage is built to fit a gripped DSLR with lens attached, one standard size DSLR with lens attached, plus three to four additional lenses, and a 15-inch laptop. Or it can accommodate two gripped DSLRs with lenses detached plus three to four lenses. In addition, for mirrorless system shooters, the bag fits two mirrorless bodies with multiple lenses.

Additional Airport Advantage Features

Lockable zipper sliders (lock not included); interior zippered pockets for batteries, CF cards, filters and accessories; user-replaceable retractable handle, wheels, wheel housings and front foot are also featured.

Additionally, the bag employs 80mm quiet wheels with sealed bearings. Other niceties are a seam-sealed rain cover, grab handles on three sides for lifting the bag into overhead bins, and a business card holder on top.

For water resistance, all exterior fabric has a water-repellent (DWR) coating, plus the underside of fabric has a polyurethane coating. The rolling bag is also constructed with 420D velocity nylon, extra tall skid plates, a rubberized laminate reinforcement and three-ply bonded nylon thread.

The interior, which measures 12x18x4.9 inches, uses 210D silver-toned nylon, polyurethane-backed Velex liner and dividers. To organize and protect gear, there are also closed-cell foam and reinforced PE board dividers. The bag has a suggested retail price of $249.75. thinktankphoto.com
