New York, NY—Rokinon introduced two wide-angle Xeen CF Professional Cine lenses for PL, Canon EF and Sony E mounts. With the addition of the 16mm T2.6 and 35mm T1.5 lenses, the Rokinon Xeen CF lineup now has a core set of five primes: 16mm T2.6; 24mm T1.5; 35mm T1.5; 50mm T1.5; and 85mm T1.5.

Moreover, the “CF” stands for both “carbon fiber” and “compact and flexible.” This reflects the compact size of the lenses. For example, the Rokinon Xeen CF 16mm weighs 2.0 pounds and measures 3.24 inches in length. In addition, the fast aperture 35mm T1.5 weighs 2.4 pounds and also measures 3.24 inches in length.

As with Rokinon’s other CF lenses, these two lenses offer compatibility with gimbals, drones, as well as compact, lightweight cameras. This was accomplished utilizing carbon fiber construction rather than metal for a sturdier, lighter and durable build.

“Carbon fiber is rarely used for precision machinery due to its difficulty in molding,” the company announced. “Credit must be given to the R&D designers who developed a technique for molding the material into the shape and size suitable for use in precise lens construction. The premium cost of carbon fiber was another challenge that was overcome to allow the CF cine lenses to remain within the reach of both renowned and aspiring cinematographers.”

Rokinon Xeen CF Professional Cine Lens Features

What’s more, Rokinon’s Xeen CF lenses provide smooth, soft bokeh when wide open and become crystal sharp when stopped down. With support for 8K capture and X-coating technology, internal light reflections are effectively controlled to create a distinctive look and dramatic effects. In addition, they are all covered by a three-year warranty.

The lenses’ main features are fast T1.5 and T2.6 apertures along with dual left and right side scales. They also boast 11-blade apertures to create smooth circular bokeh. In addition, they are compatible with large image sensors (43.3mm image circle) and have luminous markings for operation in low-light environments.

The lenses also have standard 95mm front diameters for use with matte boxes. Uniform focus and aperture ring locations enable quick lens changes when using follow-focus devices. Finally, they offer uniform 200º smooth, damped focus throw across all models to enable precise focus adjustment.

The Rokinon Xeen16mm T2.6 CF retails for $2,495. The 35mm T1.5 CF Professional Cine lens also has a price of $2,495.
