Melville, NY—Canon Solutions America announced that along with its colleagues in Canon Europe, it is celebrating the completion of more than 1,000 global installations of the Océ Colorado printers. UVgel technology powers the roll-to-roll wide-format printer series. Canon Solutions America is a wholly owned subsidiary and the sales arm of Canon Inc.
Canon introduced its UVgel technology in 2016. They called it “revolutionary.” They stating that it will transform the wide-format roll-to-roll printing industry.
“The Océ Colorado series of wide-format printers, powered by UVgel technology, has successfully filled the gap performance wise between current technologies in the roll-to-roll production market,” said Peter Kowalczuk, president of Canon Solutions America. 
In addition, to reaching the 1,000th installation milestone, Canon Solutions America is also lauding the output of the Océ Colorado’s 1640 and 1650 printers. The company stated that since September 2019, print service providers (PSPs) operating those two wide-format printer models have produced combined monthly print volumes of more than 10.7 million square feet.
Océ Colorado Printers
The company initially launched the 1640; CSA introduced the 1650 model earlier this year. Among the 1650 printer’s upgraded features is new flexible ink. This benefits customers producing applications that are folded, wrapped or bent. These may include framed canvases; soft signage; front- and back-lit graphics; wall décor applications; and also outdoor applications, including vehicle graphics.
In addition, the latest model integrates Océ FLXfinish technology. It enables customers to choose between gloss or matte effects without changing ink or media.
