Mountain View, CA—As 2012 comes to a close, SmugMug announced some new updates to its popular Camera Awesome (iOS) app, as well as the milestone that the app hit 9 million downloads in the month of December and more than 200 million photos have been taken with the app since it launched last February.
As part of the new updates, the app will have Tumblr integration and a new design optimized for the iPhone 5’s taller screen. Users can now snap a picture on their iPhone or iPad, “Awesomize it,” then upload the finished photo to their favorite social sharing sites—which now include Tumblr.
Now available in the app store, Camera Awesome for iPad takes full advantage of the device’s high-resolution display and features by offering a bigger and clearer user interface with large previews, better framing and bigger, easier editing.
In addition to native iPad support, Camera Awesome Version 1.1.1 has support for Facebook Single Sign On in iOS6 . Other new features include: an automatic low-light boost for photos up to ISO 3200; a fix for the issue when sharing to the Camera Roll on iOS6 ; the ability for users to now properly edit photos in airplane mode; and various other bug fixes.
Camera Awesome offers easy-to-use features not always available on point-and-shoot cameras, including a level for the horizon and the ability to focus in one place and set exposure in another with just a touch. With its 1-Tap and 0-Tap sharing, the app allows users to tap once to upload photos and videos to Facebook Twitter, Instagram YouTube, SmugMug, Flickr and Tumblr. Or users can let auto-sharing do it for them, so they can focus on the next shot. And, of course, its most popular feature is the ability to touch the screen just once to “Awesomize” any photo. smugmug.com
