Unique Photo Superstore
Despite a challenging retail environment, Unique Photo has thrived and continues to expand. Sweetwood attributes the company’s success to offering competitive prices; a massive selection; superior customer service; education; as well as events. “All of which have helped create a community of loyal customers,” he asserts.
One of Unique Photo’s most popular group offerings is photo walks led by professional photographers. Moreover, the Old City District’s historic landmarks, renowned art scene and city attractions will make the location ideal for these leisurely, educational trips.
In celebration of the opening, Unique Photo welcomed new customers with an in-store $10,000 shopping spree giveaway. It also offered holiday specials and complimentary one-on-one camera training.
Store hours are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Unique Photo was established in 1947, when founders Bernard and Harriet Sweetwood opened a small photographic supply outlet in Brooklyn, New York. They then established more than 20 retail outlets in department stores across New Jersey. Furthermore, they followed this up with their first independent retail location in the Garden State; Hoboken Camera Center opened in 1954.
Today, Unique Photo is New Jersey’s largest camera and video superstore. It offers the latest in photographic products and imaging technology. What’s more, its 50,000-square-foot facility in Fairfield features a spacious photography retail store; a multimedia learning center; a professional photo lab; a meeting space; a gourmet coffee bar; as well as a Wi-Fi lounge.
In addition, the store hosts more than 1,000 amateur and professional photographers monthly for its classes. Unique University instructors include world famous photographers, industry guest lecturers and also Unique’s professional staff.
