McLean, VA—National Photography Month is all about helping people get more joy out of photography and their pictures. It’s also the perfect time for photo retailers to grow their businesses. In an effort to help retailers encourage a passion for photography among their clientele, the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) launched a new website to promote May—National Photo Month.

At the site, natlphotomonth.org, retailers will find a continually growing supply of free tools, marketing tips and downloadable marketing content for use in promoting their businesses throughout the month of May. In the “Tips for Photo Professionals” section, visitors will find advice, suggestions and tricks to help better connect with current customers and reach out to future customers. New strategies and ideas will be added all month.

To spread the word and the excitement around National Photo Month, materials include National Photo Month logos, customizable posters and signs, and ready-to-use photo tweets and social media posts. While this is a U.S.-based campaign, there are also tools that could be used to inspire photo consumers worldwide—as well as to promote photography year-round.

In addition, the site offers helpful information for consumers and a photo contest with valuable prize packages; they can enter at either the professional or hobbyist level. The many prize packages include the grand prize in the professional category: an Apple iPhone 6 Plus; a Fujifilm X-T1 mirrorless ILC; and a Focus Pyramid autofocus lens calibration tool. The grand prize in the consumer category includes an Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch, Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD; a Canon EOS Rebel T6i DSLR; a Tamron 16–300mm f/3.5–6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro lens; and a 20×30 canvas certificate from MailPix.com. pmai.org
