Canon & Nikon Still at the Top of the P&S and DSLR Markets
Port Washington, NY—For the 12-month period ending October 2014, Canon dominated dollar share for both the digital point-and-shoot and DSLR camera categories.
Nikon followed with 28% and 38% of those markets, respectively. In both camera categories, Sony increased their dollar share from the year prior.
Meanwhile, GoPro owns nearly half (49%) of the camcorder market—an indication of the importance of action cams to the larger camcorder segment. GoPro is followed in this category by Sony with a 23% dollar share. Canon is next with an 11% share.—Ben Arnold, Executive Director, The NPD Group
