Canon USA Executive Vice President Named to List of 50 Most Influential Long Islanders

Melville, NY—Seymour Liebman, executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel of Canon USA, Inc., senior executive officer of Canon Inc. and vice chairman of Canon Solutions America, Inc., has again been named to the Long Island Press Power List.

The award honors 50 of Long Island’s most influential leaders. This is the fourth consecutive year that Liebman placed among the top 10 ranking, placing seven for 2014.

Now in its 12th year, the Long Island Press Power List recognizes some of Long Island’s most influential figures throughout the fields of business, politics, education, healthcare and not-for-profit. Members of the list are selected from hundreds of potential candidates and are deemed as honorees based on their contributions to and their impact on Long Island over the past year.

Liebman has been an integral part of shaping the direction of Canon USA since joining the company in 1974 as a manager in the accounting department. In 1989, he established the in-house legal department at Canon USA, where he oversees more than 25 in-house attorneys. In 1996, he was promoted to executive vice president and general manager for Administration and Regional Operations, as well as being named general counsel. Liebman was appointed to executive vice president, chief administrative officer in 2008, a title he currently holds. The first non-Japanese Canon Inc. executive, he was promoted to senior executive officer of Canon Inc. by the company’s shareholders and board of directors.

In his current position, Liebman is responsible for global legal affairs and corporate administration functions for Canon Americas. He also serves as vice chairman of Canon Solutions America, a wholly owned subsidiary that provides sales and support for Canon and Océ hardware, software and services targeting general office, production print and large-format markets in the U.S.

Additionally, Liebman serves as a board member for various local councils and associations, including the Touro Law Center where he serves on the board of governors, the Long Island Association’s board of directors, the Information Technology Industry Council and the Council of Overseers for the Tilles Center. usa.canon.com
