Kodak Supports 11 Year Old’s Mission to Thank Every U.S. Troop Overseas

Rochester, NY—July and Independence Day is the time for friends and family to celebrate their country, their freedom and the men and women who defend it, but for 11-year-old Stephen Goodman of Surprise, Arizona, every day is an opportunity to show his patriotism and remember our troops.

Goodman is on a mission to send a personalized thank-you card to every United States soldier deployed overseas—180,000 at the time of his commitment last summer. Kodak has been supporting him along the way, and in late June invited consumers to show their support for Goodman to help him reach his goal. Currently, 59,932 cards have been made.

From June 30 to July 9, consumers can visit the Kodak Picture Kiosk at participating retailers to customize and print personal greeting cards designed by Goodman, and donate their cards in collection boxes stationed next to the kiosks to help him reach his goal.

The mission began in the summer of 2010, when Goodman decided he wanted to help brighten the lives of those fighting for our country. Inspired by stories from his grandfather, a Vietnam veteran, he began the task of creating 180,000 greeting cards, one for each of the soldiers currently overseas at the time. With the help of his family, and support of several local businesses, he has worked steadily toward his goal while keeping up with his other daily activities, such as baseball and martial arts.

When Kodak heard about his mission, they immediately hopped on board. To help Goodman reach his admirable yet large goal, Kodak invited him to create his own personal greeting card on the Kodak Picture Kiosk, which allowed him to maintain personalization while reaching a larger audience more quickly. Kodak has since printed and sent over 100,000 to him. As part of an ongoing effort to support this mission, consumers can check in at Kodak.com/Go/StephenGoodman and keep up with Goodman’s progress, view pictures and get updates from him.

Stephen Goodman’s card design will be on Kodak Picture Kiosks at local retailers starting 4th of July weekend. Follow these three easy steps to support him: 1. Spread the news about his goal by liking this page on Facebook. You can also stop by Kodak’s Facebook page to leave words of encouragement. 2. Stop into your local participating retailer between June 30 and July 9, customize Stephen Goodman’s card on the Kodak Picture Kiosk and drop it in the collection box to be sent to him. Once Goodman reaches his goal of 180,000 cards, he’ll send them all overseas. Kodak.com/Go/StephenGoodman.
