Consumer confidence in the electronics sector dropped slightly from November's record number, while overall economic confidence remained steady. That's according to the December edition of the CEA/CNET confidence indices.

While it dropped seven points from last month's level, the CEA-CNET Index of Consumer Technology Expectations (ICTE) figure of 86.8 still represented a 8.5-point increase over the same month last year. The CEA-CNET Index of Consumer Expectations (ICE). meanwhile, was measured as 165.2, unchanged from the previous month.

“Many consumers purchased their electronics on Black Friday when manufacturers and retail stores offered deep discounts,” the vice president of research at CBS Interactive, Anne Claudio, said as part of the announcement. “Consumer electronics remain a must-have gift this holiday and a bright spot in the overall economy.”
