New York, NY—The midyear conference and technology showcase for the consumer electronics industry, this year’s CEA LineShows and the Digital Downtown Conference will expand to include a citywide industry celebration, CE Week in New York, June 20-25, 2011.

The events bring together the top media, trade analysts and key technology thought leaders for two days of product exhibitions, conference panels, presentations and workshops focused on what’s hot and happening in consumer electronics.

In addition to CEA LineShows and the Digital Downtown Conference, CE Week, presented by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), will feature independent conference programs, press conferences and networking events. “Similar to how the International CES has grown to be a global event each January, CE Week will become our industry’s midyear celebration of innovative technology every June in New York, the media and financial capital of the world,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “June in New York is the right place at the right time for manufacturers to meet the media, introduce new products and showcase the importance of our industry, which is why this event is expanding again this year.”

The CEA LineShows, which saw more than 1,500 attendees and 70 exhibitors in 2010, will again be home to the Digital Downtown Conference program. This year’s conference chair is Natali Del Conte Morris, news anchor for CNET TV and a technology contributor for CBS News. It will take place on June 22-23 at 7 West 34th Street.

The conference programming is developed by the media for the media to showcase the latest technology trends and new products. Highlights include: Intel Media Briefings; NYC Internet Safety Symposium 3.0; Variety 3D Summit, which will feature discussions and networking focused on the top business issues impacting 3D entertainment; the Techlicious Moms Conference—hosted by Suzanne Kantra, founder of Techilicous.com—where mom bloggers participate in technology workshops that share the tips and tricks to get the most out of technology; and iLounge + NYC, hosted by iLounge.com, which will showcase the latest third-party accessories and software for Apple’s iPod, iPhone and iPad platforms.

GeekBeat.TV to Broadcast Live

To give consumers online access to the CE LineShow, a trade-only event, GeekBeat.TV host Cali Lewis will broadcast live from the show floor and provide coverage of the latest news and announcements, as well as conduct interviews and demonstrations with exhibitors, speakers and attendees. Lewis and cohost John Pozadzides will also attend and report on other CE Week events, including the all-new CEA Demo Suites.

“We’re thrilled to have Cali bring her live broadcast of GeakBeat.TV to CEA Line Shows,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences, CEA. “Her insightful opinions on tech news and gadgets, along with her large and devoted audience, are an ideal channel for providing online access to our mid-year industry event.”
