One of the iconic brands in the history of photography is set to go away, with Kodak's announcement Monday that will phase out the Kodachrome brand color film later this year.
According to the Wall Street Journal Kodachrome, which was introduced in 1935 and became the first commercially successful brand of color film, but in recent years has fallen out of favor as digital imaging technology has largely replaced film. The company expects to run out of the product by this fall, at which point it will donate the final rolls to the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, N.Y.
