Melville, NY—Canon unveiled the EOS M10 mirrorless, interchangeable-lens camera. Complementing its compact design, the M10 is bundled with the new, retractable EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM lens that shortens and locks into a compact size when not in use.

For capturing selfies, the camera’s 3-inch, 1,040K-dot LCD screen tilts up 180º to make sure everyone is in the shot. The touch-panel LCD also lets users browse images and navigate menus. The camera’s creative assist mode was provided to make it easy to adjust settings and add effects such as brightness, background blur, vividness of color, contrast, warmth and filter effects. In addition, to help everyone look their selfie-best, a self-portrait mode adjusts camera effects and settings to enhance skin smoothness and brightness.

“This is the camera for the social media generation, including those who love to take and share high-quality photos and video while on the go. It will help them make the transition to a dedicated, high-quality digital camera, because of its mobile compatibility and creative options,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon USA, Inc.

In addition to easy sharing functions, the camera employs an 18 megapixel APS-C-format CMOS sensor, a Digic 6 image processor and a hybrid CMOS AF II system. The combination makes possible a sensitivity range from ISO 100–12,800—which is expandable to ISO 25,600—and a maximum continuous shooting speed of 4.6 frames per sec. The M10 can also record Full HD 1,920×1,080 movies at 24p and 30p in the upload-friendly MP4 format.

The M10’s built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality is compatible with most current Android devices for setup of Wi-Fi connectivity, and the camera’s mobile device connect button supports wireless connectivity with iOS and Android devices. The camera also offers wireless remote control featuring live view in compatible Apple and Android devices via Canon’s free Camera Connect app.

The camera works with Canon’s Connect Station CS100, a home hub device that provides a fast way to store photos and videos from the camera as well as view them on a TV, transfer them to social media and share them with other linked CS100 devices.

Canon’s EOS M10 camera, which measures 4.2×2.6×1.3 inches and weighs just over 10.5 ounces (including battery and memory card), is scheduled to ship in November 2015. It will be offered in a kit with the EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM zoom lens at an estimated retail price of $599.99. The camera body is available in black or white, but it will also be available in gray exclusively through the Canon Online store.

The EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM zoom lens will also be offered separately for $299.99. In addition, a silver version of Canon’s EF-M 55–200mm f/4.5–6.3 IS STM zoom lens is scheduled to be available in November 2015 for $349.99. usa.canon.com
