Canon imagePress C65 Color Digital Press for Creatives

The first entry in this month’s Printer Picture is Canon USA’s imagePress C65 color digital press. The C65 is targeted at the creative community. Compact and scalable, it’s engineered to enable users to produce creative output with reliable color registration, Gloss Optimization technology and also enhanced finishing options.

“The imagePress C65 color digital press was designed to meet and exceed the needs of the high-demand creative market, recognizing that print quality is of utmost importance,” said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions, Canon USA.

Producing graphic design quality images, the C65 can help visual artists apply last-minute changes with the ability to print at speeds of 65 letter-size images/minute. Increasing productivity and speed, its Advanced Twin Belt Fusing technology uses induction heating and cooling techniques to achieve high productivity on a range of media while controlling gloss and output quality. In addition, the compact registration module aids in delivering accurate, automatic front-to-back registration for professional presentation books with little user intervention, according to Kuwamura.

It also prints on uncoated, coated, textured and recycled paper stock. Additionally, the device offers a larger canvas with its optional feature to print auto-duplex on up to 30-inch-long sheets. The imagePress C65 can also be outfitted for in-line stapling and booklet-making options. It also enables die punching of letter, 11×17- and 12×18-inch paper formats for diversity in finishing, including oblong presentation books. usa.canon.com

Fujifilm’s Acuity Select HS 30 Series Debuts

Fujifilm North America, Graphic Systems, released the Acuity Select HS 30 printer series designed to achieve the highest print quality by combining flatbed architecture with grayscale technology.

The printers are capable of printing 620 square feet/hour—nearly double the speed of Acuity Select 20 printers. The series retains the features of Acuity UV flatbed printers, including near-photographic image quality, ease of use and the ability to produce a variety of applications on substrates up to two inches thick.

Engineered for enhanced print quality with the option of using light cyan and light magenta, it’s ideal for producing photographic images or fine art reproductions. In addition, its pneumatic pin registration system is said to allow quick and easy media loading. Automated printhead maintenance further improves productivity.

The addition of light inks means that the 30 series comes in two channel variations, 6 or 8 channels, across six models that offer print quality to meet the standards of the photographic and fine art sectors. The Acuity Select HS 30 series comes in standard (49.6×98.8) and X2 (98.8×121.7) print-bed sizes with roll options available. fujifilmusa.com

DNP Showcases Photo Printing Solutions for Attractions Venues

DNP Imagingcomm America showcased its digital photo printing solutions that provide custom photo souvenirs at IAAPA 2016. The DNP DS-RX1HS dye-sub photo printer was featured for ride photo systems, photo booths and other attractions where customized souvenirs are desired.

The DS-RX1HS improves print speeds over previous printers by 20%. It offers capacities of 700 4×6-inch prints and 350 5×7- and 6×8-inch prints, as well as the ability to print two 2×6-inch photo strips on 4×6 paper and four 2×6-inch photo strips on 6×8 paper.

DNP also showcased its SnapLab+ SL620A photo printing kiosk system for retail applications and attractions. The compact all-in-one solution is designed for easy operation by retail customers or staff. Built with DNP’s DS-Tmini terminal head, the SL620A eliminates the need for an additional computer.

The kiosk offers print sizes from 3.5×5 to 6×8, including 4×4, 5×5 and 6×6 square prints. Also, integrated photo-editing software lets users quickly edit photos as well as add borders or custom text.

The DS-Tmini also exhibited separately in dual-printer setup mode. DNP demonstrated its DS620A printer in a unique two-printer stack setup for high-volume functionality. A single DS620A printer outputting 4×6 prints was stacked on top of another DS620A outputting 6×8 prints. Furthermore, claimed to be the most compact pro-grade photo printer, the DS620A produces 400 prints per hour.

Also demoed was the DS80 large-format, dye-sub photo printer. It prints full-bleed 8×10 and 8×12 photos. The DS80 can be operated for extended periods of time, due to a simple dye-sub transfer method and a roll-fed design. In addition, the roll design provides capacity for large amounts of media; the DS80 can print 130 8×10 photos before a new roll is required. dnpphoto.com
