Richmond, VA—The DES-1 automated edge finishing system from Drytac is an easy-to-use, continuous feed system. It performs shaping as well as foil application in a single pass.
The DES-1 is marketed for mid to high-volume plaquing operations. Additionally, it allows operators of different skill levels to produce high-quality plaques. The machine can be set up in 30 seconds for substrates of varying thicknesses, such as medium density fiberboard (MDF) and hardboard (Masonite).
“The DES-1 is a true workhorse,” said Nate Goodman, Drytac’s product manager. “The operator has to do very little work—simply position the mounted and laminated images in one end of the machine and the DES-1 does the rest.”
The DES-1 trims and bevels mounted substrates and applies a thermal set decorative edge foil to complete the finished piece. Any spent foil rewinds for easy disposal. Key features of the machine include a combination cutting assembly, heated foil applicator wheel, an adjustable support rail, in-feed and out-feed support for oversized pieces, infrared thermocouple to monitor for consistent heat, and fine-tune adjustment to compensate for saw chatter marks on substrates. An optional dust collection system is available.
