San Francisco, CA—Mobile Photo Connect will present “Fearless Genius: Witness to the Digital Revolution,” a special session featuring Doug Menuez, world-renowned photographer and author of Fearless Genius. The industry conference serving the mobile photography ecosystem will be held October 15–16, 2014 at the Fort Mason Conference Center in San Francisco.

This special session will be more than a reflection on a fascinating past; it will be a source of insight and inspiration for today’s entrepreneurs attending the Mobile Photo Connect conference.

Menuez’s Fearless Genius: The Digital Revolution in Silicon Valley 1985-2000 book and cross-media platform project capture the human face of innovation and show what it takes to transform powerful ideas into reality. Invited by Steve Jobs and other leading innovators of the digital revolution to record their stories of struggle, failure, sacrifice and success, Menuez photographed the people who created more jobs and wealth than at any time in human history. As he puts it, “I’m reporting what I saw. I was in the room and witnessed the decisions and actions.” The project is now a traveling fine art exhibit of rare images of Silicon Valley’s greatest innovators, including Steve Jobs, as they changed the world.

Quitting his blues band in 1981, Menuez began his career freelancing for Time, Life, Newsweek, Fortune, The New York Times Magazine and other publications. He’s published four books, was featured in nine Day in the Life books and has won numerous awards.

In related news, the conference organizers announced the first 23 of 30 developers who will present their photo apps in three fast-paced, show-and-tell sessions. Together, the no-PowerPoint panel discussions and photo app demo sessions will offer a broad overview of the innovation transforming the mobile photo app landscape.

The presenting developers to date are: Applied Recognition Inc.; Artware; BeFunky; CanvasPop; Canvera; Clarifai; Dropbox; Ecce Terram; Fotor; Fujifilm; Kodak Alaris; Krome Photos; LifePics; Magisto; MailPix.com; Moju Labs; Narrative; Orbeus; Pixable; ScanCafe; Shuttersong; Takes; and tapsBook;

The October 16 Mobile Photo Workshops, an optional program for summit attendees, will offer workshops conducted by vendors who offer relevant APIs and SDKs. The conference is cohosted by Hans Hartman, president of Suite 48 Analytics and a GigaOm Pro analyst, and Alexis Gerard, founder of Future Image Inc. and the 6Sight Future of Imaging conferences. Gerard is also coauthor of the seminal 2005 book Going Visual. mobilephotoconnect.com
