San Diego, CA—Sony Electronics is exhibiting its 48th E-mount lens during CES 2018, at the LVCC Central Hall, booth #17300. The E 18-135mm f/3.5–5.6 OSS is an APS-C lens featuring Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to support handheld shooting.

The lens (model SEL18135) boasts a compact, lightweight design, measuring 2.75×3.5 inches and weighing in at 11.5 ounces. It offers a high magnification, 7.5x optical zoom that covers a wide-ranging focal length of 18–135mm on APS-C cameras or 27–202.5mm in 35mm equivalents.

The lens is marketed as an ideal fit for Sony’s APS-C sensor cameras, including the α6500, α6300 and α6000, for shooting situations ranging from everyday events to portraiture, landscape, nature and travel photography.

“The E 18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 OSS produces outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the entire zoom range,” Sony announced. Its 12-group/16-element optical design employs one aspherical lens and two extra-low dispersion glass elements to minimize aberrations.

Moreover, the lens enables photographers to produce close-up images with pleasing bokeh or background defocus. This is a result of its maximum magnification ratio of 0.29x, minimum focus distance of 1.48 feet and 7-bladed aperture.

Additionally, the zoom lens is engineered for fast, precise, quiet autofocus performance, due to its linear motor. The lens is therefore suitable for high-speed shooting as well as video capture.
