Santa Rosa, CA—As quadcopter drone design continues to evolve, so does Think Tank Photo’s Airport Helipak V2.0 backpack for the DJI Phantom. The newly updated backpack accommodates a DJI Phantom 4 or similarly sized drones.

The backpack’s design is carry-on compatible for both U.S. domestic and international airline travel. In addition, a custom divider set allows maximum room for extra accessories and gear, including a small camera kit. There is also a dedicated compartment for a 15-inch laptop.

“We updated the backpack to carry a DJI Phantom 4, a 15-inch laptop, controller, GoPros, chargers, spare rotors, extra batteries, jacket, tools and more,” said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank Photo’s CEO and lead designer. “The contoured adjustable harness with lumbar support, articulated air-channel, removable padded waist belt and height-adjustable sternum strap enable comfort for travel into remote areas.”

Key features of the drone backpack include YKK RC Fuse zippers, a 1680D ballistic nylon bottom panel, metal hardware and nylon webbing. There is a side pocket for storing a tripod attachment or water bottle. Additionally, internal see-through mesh pockets house small accessories, like rotor blades, a screwdriver and cables.

For water resistance, all exterior fabric has a water-repellent (DWR) coating. Furthermore, the underside of the fabric has a polyurethane coating. The backpack also comes with a seam-sealed rain cover for added protection in inclement weather. The cover stows away inside the backpack when not in use.

The Airport Helipak V2.0 has exterior dimensions of 13.6×19.7x 9.3 inches and interior dimensions of 13x19x8.3. It weighs 4.6 pounds. The backpack retails for $199.75.
