Palo Alto, CA—HP, which posted a 28% increase in profit to $2.2 billion and a 13% jump in revenue to $30.85 billion for its fiscal second quarter from a year earlier, announced Walmart is rolling out its Prints in Minutes retail publishing service in 3,600 U.S. stores.

Walmart customers can utilize the service and purchase personalized printed merchandise, with access to images from Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. and Live Nation.

This rollout in Walmart stores, along with growth in other retailers’ stores, marks a more than 300% growth of HP’s 2010 retail publishing presence. Over the last year, HP has expanded its customer portfolio through agreements with Tesco, Rossmann, Duane Reade and Kmart Australia.

HP’s front-of-counter Prints in Minutes service lets customers order 4×6, 5×7 and 8×10 photo prints, collages, calendars, greeting cards, flat photo cards and photo CDs. It features the HP Instant Print Solution, a self-serve system that enables consumers to pick up orders for prints and creative products within minutes of ordering or at a later time by using a secure order storage and release feature. The unattended system is designed to help retailers increase photo center traffic and revenue from high-margin products without dedicated labor. The system is powered by HP’s Photosmart PM2000e microlab.

Included is HP’s dry-assembly photo book technology, which delivers a “pinch-book” assembly feature rather than a glue system, eliminating the need for additional finishing equipment. It also allows consumers to change or add pages to photo books later.

This holiday season, Walmart customers will also be able to order printable merchandise featuring licensed content from Warner Bros., including DC Comics superheroes Batman and Superman, Hanna-Barbera favorites such as Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny and Tweety, and the Harry Potter film series. And, through HP’s agreement with Live Nation, Walmart will offer posters and creative products featuring music artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Madonna. hp.com
