Cologne, Germany—In recognition of his services involving photokina as well as the entire imaging industry, Rainer Führes was awarded the Golden photokina Needle. Führes is the CEO of Canon Deutschland GmbH and chairman of the Photoindustrie-Verband imaging association. The presentation was made by Jürgen Roters, the mayor of Cologne and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse GmbH.

At a ceremony in Japan during a visit by Roters and a photokina delegation, Roters praised the special dedication of Rainer Führes.

Führes, who has been with Canon for 20-plus years, has also worked intensively to make photokina successful. In addition, he has dedicated himself to introducing imaging to a wider audience.

Führes assumed the position of chairman of the Photoindustrie-Verband several months ago. As such, he will continue to play a decisive role in the positive future development of photokina.

“Someone who dedicates himself with so much commitment and energy to the interests of the industry must be involved wholeheartedly,” noted Roters. “It is such people that the industry urgently needs.”
