Point & Shoot Cameras : Nikon Rolls Out Seven Coolpix Models—from Long Zooms to Adventureproof
January 29, 2013In order to give consumers a more effective way to understand the benefits of each Coolpix camera and help users determine the best camera to fit their lifestyle, Nikon has now segmented the Coolpix series into five categories: Advanced Performance; Fun & Innovative; Ultra-Slim Zoom; Comfort Long Zoom; and Budget Friendly.
“Nikon’s new long zoom Coolpix cameras provide consumers with the chance to capture a diverse range of subjects and scenes, whether near the subject or at a distance,” said Bo Kajiwara, vice president, Marketing, Planning and Customer Experience, Nikon Inc. “Designed for the frequent traveler, the instant sharer and the family memory keeper, these new Coolpix cameras offer trusted Nikon technology, high image quality, Full HD video and a variety of other features that meet photographers’ needs.”
Coolpix P520. To capture photos up close or at a distance, the P520 boasts a 42x optical zoom-Nikkor glass lens with an equivalent zoom range from a wide 24mm to an impressive 1000mm. Lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) combines with the new active mode assist to help capture blur-free images and video. With full manual controls, the P520 also offers an 18.1 megapixel backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and high ISO sensitivity for enhanced low-light performance.
Other P520 features include: a 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD monitor; Full HD (1080p) video recording with stereo sound via a dedicated button; built-in GPS capabilities that let well photographers log their journeys with an easy-to-use display; and the ability to share images and videos instantly utilizing the optional WU-1a wireless mobile adapter and downloadable Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility app, to transfer images and videos to compatible smart devices and tablet. The Coolpix P520 retails for an SRP of $449.95 in a choice of black, red and gray.
Coolpix L820. Designed for the family memory keeper, the Coolpix L820 provides a versatile 30x optical zoom, a 16MP CMOS sensor and VR technology to help keep shots steady. Its super-wide-angle lens covers from 22.5mm to super-telephoto 675mm. Also featured are: a 3.0-inch monitor; an ergonomic design; the convenience of AA batteries; a dedicated video button; easy auto mode; and Nikon’s smart portrait system, which enables users to enhance photos with options like red-eye fix and face-priority AF, as well as special effects that include glamour retouch, filter effects and skin softening. This Coolpix will come in black or red. $279.95.
