Irvine, CA—Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, revealed that its Canvio 3.0 and Canvio Basics 3.0 portable hard drives will now offer consumers up to 1.5 terabytes of storage and Mac compatibility, without the need for reformatting.

All of the new offerings come equipped with USB 3.0 technology for higher data transfer speeds to enable consumers to quickly store, transfer and back up their data.

“We understand that consumers have choices when it comes to computing and as a result, have varying storage needs,” said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of product marketing and development of branded storage products, Toshiba America Information Systems, DPD. “With our newest Canvio 3.0 portable hard drives, consumers can easily swap data between Mac and PC devices, eliminating the hassle of reformatting to work the way they want.”

Toshiba’s Canvio 3.0 portable storage device addresses a variety of storage needs. Featuring up to 1.5TB of storage, it has the capacity to back up consumers’ entire computer systems, and data transfer speeds are now faster with the inclusion of USB 3.0 technology. Additionally, the 1.5TB solution includes a NTFS driver for Mac computers that allows users to swap data between Macs and PCs without having to reformat the drive.

The Canvio 3.0 comes with software that provides file, folder and full system backup and recovery. Users can run a full system backup and file/folder backup simultaneously, as well as preset their backup sessions using a scheduling feature. There is no software setup necessary, and the device is ready to use out of the box, allowing users to plug it into their PC and start saving their digital files. It also offers a free 30-day trial for its Cloud-enabled backup feature.

To ensure data protection, the Canvio 3.0 has an internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to safeguard data against accidents and drops. The drive is available in a variety of colors, including black, silver, white, red, blue and green.

The 1.5TB Canvio 3.0 drive, which includes the NTFS driver for Mac compatibility, will be available for $199.99, while the 1TB version will retail for $149.99, the 750GB for $129.99 and the 500GB for $119.99.
