A wide range of product categories will be represented in the 2010 PhotoPlus Video Pavilion as video accessories, Web services, optics and storage companies are all taking space for the October 28-30 event held at New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center.
We recently chatted with some of the show’s exhibitors to get a glimpse at what we can expect to see at the annual imaging industry gathering in Manhattan. Let’s take a peek at some of those offerings.
• LaCie
LaCie will showcase the LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 storage solution that Features high-performing 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connection and dual controllers. The LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8, as they explain, “can deliver the fastest transfer speeds on the market” making it an ideal solution for today’s demanding video storage applications.
Now with the 8Gb/s Fibre Channel interface, the LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 supports speeds up to 1200MB/s with only 12 drives. It can deliver enough bandwidth to support one full non-interlaced 4K stream. • iDC Photo Video
Among the many nifty video accessories that iDC Photo Video will introduce will be the iDC “Run and Gun Kit” that offers an elegantly simple and effective tool for DSLR
capture by combining a unique low-profile Gearless Follow-Focus with a Quick-Release Viewfinder to make a compact and cost-effective package. Affordable price, quick lens changes and a long list of compatible lenses make this, as iDC explains, “the best documentary kit on the market.”

Vimeo will once again showcase their a very cleanly-designed video sharing website – summed up simply by stating, “YouTube for people that know what they’re doing.”
Vimeo actually launched support for high definition video back in October 2007, further establishing itself as a leading video hosting platform. The website is owned by the media conglomerate InterActiveCorp and operated by Connected Ventures. www.vimeo.com
• GlideCam
GlideCam will demo their Glidecam X22 sled that holds any video or film camera weighing up to 25 pounds. The X-22 Sled incorporates sophisticated engineering and precision machining to make it lightweight and strong.
The precision, x-y adjustable head assembly incorporates a drop in style dovetail camera plate for quick front to back balance. Very, fine tuning, ergonomic knobs control front to back and side to side balance adjustments. The Sled’s “no-tools” precision Gimbal is made to top of the line quality. The Gimbal incorporates 4 bearings inside the handle to yoke connection (the tilt axis). There are 2 bearings on each side of the yoke, providing 4 bearings for the roll axis. A very tight knurling has been machined onto the Gimbal Tube to improve handling. An easy to replace soft foam covers the handle grip.

• Schneider Optics/Phase One
Schneider Optics and Phase One are sharing a booth in the PPE Video Pavilion and among the many products on display will be Schneider’s new Cine-Xenar lenses that, as the company explains, “are the tool for the shooter’s creativity.” The fast T-stop and the robust and reliable construction of the lenses give the photographer all the freedom they need to pursue their ideas.
Schneider Kreuznach, Phase One A/S and Mamiya Digital Imaging, announced a collaboration last year on the design, development, manufacture and delivery of superior quality, precision digital lenses for medium format camera systems.
You can also expect to see the first results of this collaboration at their PPE Video Pavilion booth as they demo the 55mm, 80mm and 110mm leaf shutter lenses designed for the Phase One 645DF and Mamiya 645DF cameras. www.schneideroptics.com and www.phaseone.com.
• Adorama
New York imaging retail staple Adorama is planning to showcase myriad video products and accessories including the Canon HDSLR cameras on Redrock Micro rigs along with Canon lenses, Carl Zeiss ZE, and Carl Zeiss Compact Prime lenses, Arri Follow Focus and Matteboxes, Marshall and Panasonic external monitors and the Sony EX3 with Letus Adapter among a host of other equipment.
