Dallas, TX—Redrock Micro, provider of affordable, professional-grade cinema accessories, launched its line of Cobalt Cages and accessories for GoPro cameras, including the new GoPro Hero3.
The Cobalt Cage is an aluminum housing that encases the camera for protection, mounting and rigging support, and a range of accessory attachments. Constructed from precision-machined, military-grade aluminum, this GoPro cage is engineered to be crashproof, crushproof and bulletproof. Its reinforced, high-tensile design was created to give shooters extra confidence when using their GoPro in extreme POV (point of view), risky camera setups or insane camera mounts.
With four sides of industry-standard ¼-inch taps, the cage enables GoPro cameras to be mounted directly to standard video gear, including fluid head tripods, ball heads and suction cups. Multiple attachment points support three-point rigging for shot stability and camera placement, and a GoPro finger-mount plate is included so existing GoPro accessories and mounts can be used with the Cobalt Cage.
According to Redrock Micro, “Attaching accessories to the Cobalt Cage is easy and reliable,” and users can mount up LED lighting, microphones, additional power—anything needed to elevate the shot’s production value. For example, a naked GoPro in the Cobalt Cage, a suction cup, microphone and LED light can be used for interior car shots. An optional shoe mount can be added to the cage for attaching shoe-mount accessories as well.
The cage also secures the camera with six points of contact (not just the finger mount), provides 22 mounting points on all four sides for rigging and accessories, and is compatible with all GoPro camera add-on accessories.
