North White Plains, NY—Profoto, manufacturer of professional photography lighting and Light Shaping Tools, added the ProDaylight 200 Air and ProDaylight 400 Air continuous light sources to their lineup. In 2011, Profoto released the continuous light source ProDaylight 800 Air, introducing the concept of light shaping to video.

The word “Air” means that the units come with Profoto’s Air radio remote function, which lets users control the light from the palm of their hand. And these new versions of ProDaylight Air—an HMI light geared for most photo and video shoots—are even smaller and more lightweight. The fact that they do not use fans to keep cool makes them totally silent—a valuable feature when working with live sound video.

“The increasing popularity of modern DSLR cameras that are capable of not only shooting still photographs but high definition video as well prove that the worlds of photography and video are blending into one,” said Mark Rezzonico, vice president, Product Group. “And as more and more photographers begin to specialize in offering photography and video services, these new HMI continuous light sources will perfectly complement their equipment and assist them in getting the most out of their video as well as photo shoots.”

These new products are compatible with Profoto’s assortment of Light Shaping Tools and are designed to provide light with “daylight color temperature and excellent color rendering.” ProDaylight, like all HMI lights, needs a ballast to work, and to fully support the new versions, Profoto is launching the ProBallast 200/400. ProBallast is multivoltage, flicker-free and automatically senses that a 200W or a 400W head is connected, adjusting itself accordingly.

Profoto’s ProDaylight 200 Air and ProDaylight 400 Air continuous light sources come with a 200W or 400W UV-blocked bulb, glass cover (frosted) and metal transport cap. Profoto-USA.com
