Canon PosterArtist-Poster Creation Software
Canon recently announced that the latest version of is PosterArtist poster creation software now has the capability to support 64-bit operating systems in addition to an expanded image library that includes new images and templates for users to choose from. The output devices supported by the software have also been augmented to include limited support and functionality of Océ wide-format printers, Pixma photo printers and imageRunner series printers along with the imagePrograf models supported by previous versions.

For those who already own a version of PosterArtist, an update will be available at usa.canon.com/posterartist. This new version of PosterArtist will have the same MSRP of the previous version, $799, and it is available now.

A new 12×18-inch panel size, available with a gloss or matte finish, allows those who offer large-format print services to get the most out of dye-sub printers that have the ability to print onto 13×19-inch media.

HP/Disney/ESPN Partnership

New Service Turns Photos into Canvas Oil Paintings
A number of software filters promise to transform regular digital photos into oil paintings, but those images remain virtual creations. Now a new service called CheapOilPainting.com offers this service and actual delivers a finished print. The consumer simply submits a photo and the service will hand paint that image using oil paints onto a canvas. There are several online services that can give photos the look of an oil painting but very few that we’ve seen that do this by hand (most use software).

Sizes on CheapOilPainting.com range from 16 to 42 inches with prices starting at $140. These paintings can be delivered unframed, in a rolled tube, stretched in a wooden frame (an extra $30) or delivered as an edgeless gallery wrap for an extra $50.
