Photo-Imaging Journalist Jerry O’Neill Dies

Rochester, NY—Jerome “Jerry” O’Neill, Jr., photo-imaging journalist and longtime columnist for Photo Industry Reporter, died peacefully on July 29, 2012 at age 69. A graduate of West High School and the University of Rochester, O’Neill was the author of PIR’s Dollars from Digital column, guiding photo retailers and photofinishers through the digital revolution under the pen name of Seymour Pixels.

With a deep passion for photography, O'Neill was involved in the photo industry for more than 30 years. He started out working behind the counter selling cameras back when flashbulbs and 8mm home movies were big products, and he took photos of every kind from advertising to zone systems. During his career, O’Neill wrote hundreds of articles and columns on nearly every aspect of the photography business.

Jerry O’Neill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen; son, Jerome J.; daughter, Emily (Brian Hansen); brother, Steven; sister-in-law, Liz Rich; and grandsons, Matthew and Samuel.
