Perfect Photo Suite 9 Adds Fast Raw Previews, Re-Editable files, New Selection Tools

Portland, OR—onOne Software’s updated Perfect Photo Suite 9 photo-editing and effects app for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows includes performance and feature improvements designed to help streamline photo-editing tasks. The full-featured photo editor works as a plug-in editor to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and Aperture, or as a stand-alone application.

Among the key enhancements is an overhauled browse module said to add lightning-fast previews of RAW files; new rating, ranking and keyword tools; and new filtering capabilities to help cull and sort through photos quickly after a shoot. Users can then edit photos using Suite 9 or can send them to a secondary photo tool like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom or Apple Aperture—with metadata and keywords intact.

The program provides tools for editing photos, improving portraits, adding popular looks in color or black and white, resizing for large-format printing, and making complex selections with minimal effort.

A new smart photo feature lets user reedit photos, with previous settings intact, after saving and closing them. All of the editing steps are saved, so users can make subtle (or major) changes at a later date, while preserving the Photoshop file format for compatibility. Also added is a quick-mask brush for replacing backgrounds: users can run it over an area they want to select (or remove), and a detailed mask is automatically created.

To help create better selections, all the masking and selection tools were also improved and integrated throughout the software’s modules. And, perfect layers and perfect mask were combined into a single module, streamlining the process of compositing photos.

Additional features include: noise reduction while maintaining important details; a lens flare filter to get that “shot into the sun” look and add flares; faster image processing; filters; presets now load 30%  faster than in previous versions; Retina display support; an improved automatic tone algorithm; better crop and level tools; an enhanced perfect brush to work on soft edges and semi-transparent objects; printing capabilities; and better batch rename options.

onOne’s open system allows access to photos no matter where they are stored: a computer, a network or on cloud-based storage services, supporting online storage services such as Dropbox, iCloud Photo Stream, Google Drive, and Microsoft’s OneDrive.

Perfect Photo Suite 9 is available in two versions: Premium and Basic. The Premium edition supports Photoshop CC, CC 2014, and CS6; Lightroom 5 and 4; Photoshop Elements 12, 11 and 10; and Apple Aperture 3. It has an introductory price of $129.95. The Basic edition, without plug-in support, is $79.95. ononesoftware.com
