Secaucus, NJ—Panasonic’s newest digital interchangeable standard zoom lens, the Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 Asph/Power OIS (H-HS12035), is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix G series and complies with the Micro Four Thirds system standard.
The lens has an equivalent zoom range of 24-70mm and features constant f/2.8 aperture brightness throughout its range. Suitable for professionals and enthusiasts, it’s engineered to capture a range of scenes, from dynamic landscapes to available-light and studio-lit portraits, with “lifelike textures and crisp edge-to-edge contrast.”
Incorporating Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology to minimize reflections at the entire visual range (380nm-780nm), the lens reduces ghosts and flare, and its newly integrated Power OIS (optical image stabilizer) compensates for both small, fast movement and large, slow movement.
The compact Lumix G X Vario lens is approximately 73.8mm in length and weighs 10.8 ounces. Additionally, with a rubber ring on the lens’s metal mount, it is designed to stand up against splashes and dust, making it suitable for outdoor photography enthusiasts.
Comprised of 14 lenses in nine groups, it utilizes an UED (ultra extra-low dispersion) lens to minimize chromatic aberration while the UHR (ultra high refractive) lens helps to realize high descriptive performance from corner to corner. And, an inner focus system “provides for excellent resolution and contrast without changing the overall length from full life-size magnification to infinity.” Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces a smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. Also notable, when the lens is mounted on any Lumix G Micro system camera body, users can take advantage of the high-speed, high-precision contrast AF (autofocus) system.
