ODM’s Casemaking System XXL Now Produces Tabloid-size Hard Book Covers

Elizabeth, NJ—The next-generation Casemaking XXL system from On Demand Machinery (ODM) will enable users to produce 4×4-inch wallet (closed) sizes up to 22.75×46.75-inch (open) tabloid hard book covers using the same four processes as the original Casemaking system.

ODM has broken down the process into four steps they say are simpler to master. The process uses the Casemaking XXL system that includes the Spreader, Slider, Stomper and Squeezer machines.

The operator runs the cover material through the Spreader top-side gluer, aligns cover boards in position with the Slider sliding table case gauge, turns in all four sides of the cover with the Stomper air-operated turning-in machine, and then feeds the finished cover through the Squeezer rotary press.

Built in the USA, the entire ODM Casemaking line is self-adjusting, making it an option for on-demand printers who require bindery and short-run applications. A built-in light box helps increase accuracy when aligning preprinted covers; when operators center the title on the scribed line, the type will line up perfectly on the spine, with no “bounce” in the registration.

The Casemaking System XXL is designed to produce hardcover bookbindings, photo books, turned-edge binders, game boards, menus and padded binders with no makeready. Using the system two operators can produce up to 200 covers per hour, for wallet- (minimum 4×4 inches closed) to tabloid-size books (maximum size 22.75×46.75 inches open), up to 4 inches thick.

ODM machines are built to work seamlessly with the XXL series, which includes the Super Sewer, Sticker and Smasher, and they are CE approved. odmachinery.com
