Wayne, NJ—Upping the ante in the action camera category, JVC announced the GC-XA1 ADIXXION action camcorder that is pocket-size, weighs barely a quarter pound, is waterproof to a depth of 16.4 feet, shockproof to withstand a fall from (6.5 feet, dustproof and freezeproof—all without the need for a separate housing.
In addition, ADIXXION includes built-in Wi-Fi, a 1.5-inch LCD monitor, the ability to capture 5 megapixel photos or record Full HD 1,920×1,080/30p and 1,280×720/60p movies, and image stabilization to help capture distortion-free images, even during fast-moving scenes.
Geared for consumers who want to capture their snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking or just about any other activity, the ADIXXION comes with two mounts: a goggle mount and a flexible mount suitable for a range of applications that include use on a helmet or surfboard. Specialized mounts and other optional accessories are available.
In addition to its “Quad Proof” design, the camera body has a scratch-resistant rubber texture, and there are two standard tripod sockets for mounting in a variety of locations. And, built-in Wi-Fi allows wirelessly connecting it to a smartphone that can be used to monitor the image, when framing a shot with the camera mounted on a helmet for instance. Wi-Fi also makes it possible to send images live to a PC and mobile hotspot or transfer them to a PC for sharing via social networks. ADIXXION can also stream live HD video in real time to USTREAM without a PC. Android and iOS apps are available for free download, while Wi-Video PC software is supplied with the camera.
Other features include: a built-in HDMI terminal for connection to HDTVs; a wide-angle lens; time-lapse recording at intervals of 1 or 5 seconds; 5x digital zoom; and white balance (auto/manual), autoexposure and self-timer functions.
