Hasselblad Masters 2016 Competition Open for Public Vote

Union, NJ—The Hasselblad Masters 2016 competition received 10,700 images entered from more than 4,000 photographers. Based on photographic ability, creativity, compositional skills, conceptual strength and technique, a short list has been compiled, and a public vote is now open.

The public vote provides photographers worldwide with the opportunity to influence the result of the Hasselblad Masters competition; the public jury carries one vote on the main Masters Jury panel.

As participants in the Hasselblad public jury, individuals are invited to help select a winner from each of the 10 categories. The public jury vote works by using a rating system that allows jurors to award one, two or three stars to an image in each category. The images with the most stars in each category at the end of the voting period will gain the public vote as part of the main Masters Jury panel.

It is not possible to vote more than once on an image, and once the six allotted stars are used, that image category is considered closed. It is not mandatory to vote in all 10 categories.

To join in the public voting process, register or log in to your account on the Hasselblad website (hasselblad.com) and visit the My Hasselblad page, where each of the 10 categories are listed.

The Hasselblad Masters 2016 categories are as follow: Art; Landscape/Nature; Wedding; Portrait; Fashion/Beauty; Products; Architecture; Wildlife; Project//21 (a general category open to amateur photographers, students, assistants and young professionals 21 years old and under); and Street/Urban. Public voting closes on September 30, 2015.

Winners of each category will be tasked to create a new and unique set of theme-based images using the latest Hasselblad medium-format equipment for the edition of the exclusive Hasselblad Masters commemorative book. The book will be launched at a special ceremony at photokina 2016 in Cologne, Germany. Winning photographers will be published on the Hasselblad global website, in other Hasselblad publications and various advertising promotions. They will also be presented at exhibitions around the world. For the first time ever, each winner will receive a brand-new medium-format Hasselblad camera. hasselbladusa.com
