San Francisco, CA—At Mobile Photo Connect 2016, a panel of high-powered industry players presented the four Mobile Photo Connect Awards. The Funimate app was selected as Best in Show. The conference is presented for executives as well as entrepreneurs in the mobile photography ecosystem.

“Mobile Photo Connect is the premier international stage for the mobile photo and video industry conference to share best practices and also visions for the future,” said chairman Hans Hartman.

Turkey-based Funimate presented a video-editing app that enables users to create highly engaging videos. Funimate features innovative real-time effects. The judges said the app was like “building super computer capabilities right into your smartphone, with a consumer experience so fun and addictive it might just take the global tween and teen market by storm.”

Israel- and U.S.-based imaging technology company Bjpegmini-appeamr offers photo as well as video optimization solutions. These include its JPEGmini photo recompression products that judges said “will instantly save companies bandwidth and also money while giving consumers a faster imaging experience.”

Furthermore, France-based Regaind presented its AI-based (artificial intelligence) photo-analysis solutions, including Keegan. Regaind’s Keegan is a personal photo coach web service that launched at Mobile Photo Connect. The service “combines natural language conversation with machine vision analysis.”

In addition, U.S.-based Keepy’s namesake product is an intergenerational, visual memories sharing app. It promotes family members to share photos, as well as videos and voice annotations. “A combination of interesting technology and novel cuskeepy-apptomer experience and a great imaging engine under the hood,” noted the judges.

The judging panel for the awards was composed of prominent representatives of the high-tech media and investment communities. This year’s judges were: Rudy Burger, managing partner, Woodside Capital; Jackie Dove, writer and editor for various tech blogs; Haje Jan Kamps, writer, TechCrunch; and James Joaquin, cofounder and managing director, Obvious Ventures.

The global reach of the Mobile Photo Connect conference was demonstrated again this year. Twelve out of 31 show-and-tell presenters have roots outside the U.S., and attendees also traveled from more than 15 countries.
