Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corp.’s new FinePix F-series F600EXR is a sleek compact that combines a 16 megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor, a Fujinon 15x wide-angle lens (24-360mm equivalent), intelligent digital zoom that now doubles its telephoto power, and a 3.0-inch high-contrast 460K LCD with 160° viewing.

The pocketable F600EXR is optimized for low-light performance, utilizing an advanced EXR auto mode with a motion detection function to help eliminate subject blur in all lighting conditions. The camera tackles motion blur on three fronts with mechanical image stabilization, high ISO sensitivity and the motion detection capability working together. In low light with EXR auto selected, the F600EXR automatically identifies if the subject is moving to deploy motion detection and a higher ISO. If no subject movement is identified, it keeps the ISO lower and uses image stabilization to reduce noise.

Also notable is the camera’s high-speed autofocus (said to be as quick as 0.16 second) and high-speed continuous shooting of 11 fps for 32 frames. And an improved built-in GPS adds a landmark navigator that locates places of interest from its onboard database of one million locations and displays the points on the LCD, showing their relative position from the photographer’s location. Photo navigation is also included to help users find their way to a previously photographed location, while tracking data allows them to create a route of their travels.

Users who prefer to take control can choose from: EXR HR (high resolution) priority mode, with the sensor utilizing all 16 megapixels for the highest quality results; EXR DR (dynamic range) priority mode, where two images are merged together to produce high-contrast scenes; and EXR SN (signal to noise) priority mode, which doubles up pixels to increase sensitivity and give better low-light results.

Other features include: Full HD 1080p movie capture with stereo sound and a high-speed movie option for freezing action at 320 fps; motion panorama mode to capture 360° panoramic images; a rubberized black coating that prevents fingerprint smudging and aids in a solid, comfortable grip; ISO sensitivity to 12,800; a full complement of exposure modes, including aperture priority, shutter priority and manual; Raw file format; film simulation modes; and a full-featured flash.

The Fujifilm FinePix F600EXR will be available in October for $349.95. fujifilmusa.com
