Lucie Foundation Reveals 2012 Lucie Award Honorees for 10th Anniversary Celebration

Los Angeles, CA—On December 7, 2003, 700 guests attended the first annual Lucie Awards, and since then thousands have gathered in celebration of photography and to pay tribute to Lucie honorees, present awards from its sister effort, the International Photography Awards, and recognize individuals integral to crafting an image through the Support Category Awards.

To commemorate this milestone, the Lucies will return to the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom on October 8, 2012. This year’s honorees are: Lifetime Achievement – Joel Meyerowitz; Achievement in Fine Art – Arthur Tress ; Achievement in Documentary – Tod Papageorge; Achievement in Sports – John Biever ; Achievement in Photojournalism – David Burnett ; Achievement in Portraiture – Greg Gorman; and for the Double Exposure Award – Jessica Lange . The Lucie Awards are the signature program of the Lucie Foundation and are presented with the support of atEdge, APA, ASMP, Phase One and Photo District News.

Nominations Open for Six Support Categories through September 8
The Lucie Awards also present six Lucies to those in the creative community integral in crafting an image through the Support Category Awards. Anyone can nominate in these categories, and the Lucie photographer advisory board identifies the finalists and the winners.

The six Support Category Awards are: Print Advertising Campaign of the Year – awarded to photographers; Fashion Layout of the Year – awarded to a magazine; Curator/Exhibition of the Year – awarded to curators; Book Publisher of the Year – awarded to book publishers; Picture Editor of the Year – awarded to picture editors; and Photography Magazine of the Year – awarded to a magazine. 2012 APA/Lucie Foundation Scholarship Winner Announced
Donna J. Wan, a San Francisco Bay-area photographer was named the inaugural recipient of the Association of Photographic Artists (APA)/Lucie Foundation Scholarship. She will be recognized at the 10th Annual Lucie Awards and will receive $5,000 to complete a bicoastal photography project.
